1/35 German Schwimmwagen Type 166 (Wide Wheel Version)
Description
This model assembly kit recreates the wide wheel version of the
German Schwimmwagen in 1/35 scale. It compliments Tamiya’s
popular German Schwimmwagen (item 35224) kit as it adds a
variant version. The wide wheel version included wide tires and
added equipment such as MG35 machine gun and two new figures.
About the German Schwimmwagen Type 166 (Wide Wheel Version)
Criss-crossed by rivers and dotted with wetlands, European
geography poses significant military challenges and led the
German Wehrmacht to develop the Schwimmwagen, an amphibious
vehicle based upon the Ferdinand Porsche-designed Kübelwagen.
With a 4-cylinder gasoline engine capable of 25hp, the
Schwimmwagen featured the 80km/h top speed on ground. The rear
three-bladed screw propeller was lowered manually using a rod
and provided water speed up to 10km/h. While paucity of
materials meant many Schwimmwagen used 133mm tires, those with
wider 200mm tires enjoyed superior off-road performance.

• Features realistic depictions of suspension and
4-cylinder gasoline engine.
• Newly molded C parts realistically recreate the
following features: 200mm wide tires (Tires are split into
pieces to recreate tire patterns.), wheels, MG34 machine gun,
Panzerfaust 30 (anti-tank weapon) and Kar.98k rifle fixed to
crossbar, windshield with or without cover, and other
equipment.
• Position canteens and helmet as you wish.
• Two new figures (one driver and one officer) are
included.
• Decals depict four German Army and two German Air Force
number plates, and badges of cap, sleeve and collar.
