HO EMD GP35 S&A 2715 As Appears Today Diesel / DCC-Ready
Broadway Limited is thrilled to announce a brand-new production run of our popular EMD GP35 locomotives in HO scale!
Ubiquitous on American railroads, the EMD GP35 is a 4-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by EMD and subsequently General Motors Diesel in the mid 1960’s. Over 1300 of these locomotives were produced, and they were operated by virtually every major railroad in the United States. Addtionally 26 units were built for Canadian railroads and another 57 units were built for Mexican railroads. These freight locomotives were powered by EMD 567D3A 16-cylinder engines that generated 2500 horsepower.
In this production run, we’re bringing back a few fan-favorite road names and debuting several all-new ones. Returning favorites include BNSF and Union Pacific, while newcomers feature Conrail, Rio Grande, Gulf, Mobile & Ohio, Savannah & Atlanta, and the eye-catching Soo Line Bicentennial scheme.
Each locomotive includes newly tooled details to ensure every road name is modeled with true prototypical accuracy. Plus, we’re adding a festive twist this year with a Christmas-themed GP35, complete with holiday-inspired graphics and special holiday sounds—perfect for seasonal layouts or collectors looking for something unique!
All models are available in Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC or as part of our Stealth DCC-Ready series, featuring factory-installed speakers for easy customization with your preferred 21-pin aftermarket sound decoder.

The SD70ACe, built in the United States between 2004 and 2014, was introduced as the successor to the SD70MAC. Designed to meet EPA Tier 2 emissions regulations, the model later evolved in 2012 to comply with Tier 3 standards. Powered by EMD’s 16-710-G3C-T2 prime mover, the SD70ACe produces 4,300 horsepower, with later Tier 3 versions boosted to 4,500 horsepower. These locomotives deliver 157,000 lbf of continuous tractive effort and 191,000 lbf at starting, with braking effort rated at 106,000 lbf.
While mechanically similar to earlier SD70 models, the SD70ACe features a redesigned underframe and new sheet metal construction. Its electrical cables and air lines are routed beneath the walkways on opposite sides, improving maintenance access. The design continues trends from the SD80 and SD90 series, including a wide radiator nearly matching the cab’s width, a lowered center hood section, and dynamic brakes relocated to the rear. The cab itself was derived from late-model SD90MAC-H units, featuring rectangular window glass and a distinct external appearance compared to earlier SD70M and SD70MAC cabs. In 2008, EMD standardized the isolated cab design for new SD70ACes after non-isolated versions were restricted from leading BNSF trains due to excessive vibration.
In this production run, we’re offering models in eight distinct paint schemes—seven of which are prototypical. Highlights include KCS 4006 Veterans Day Salute, Norfolk Southern 1080 (the D&H Heritage unit), and Union Pacific 1943 “The Spirit”.
Each locomotive is tooled with detail variations specific to its prototype, including low and high headlights, isolated and non-isolated cabs, long and short sunshades, two brake wheel styles, three cab roof designs, and two blower vent layouts.
Models are available with Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC or in our No-Sound / DCC-Ready option.

The William Barstow Strong began its life as Coach Bar Lounge Car #1397 before being rebuilt as a Track Inspection Car. In 1975, it was renamed William Barstow Strong in honor of the former president of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway—who also inspired the naming of the city of Barstow, California.
In August 1990, the car underwent another transformation, this time into a Theatre Lounge Car, and soon became a familiar sight on the rear of Santa Fe Executive Trains. It also had the distinction of bringing up the rear of Santa Fe 3751’s celebrated cross-country excursion between Los Angeles, California, and Chicago, Illinois, during the summer of 1992.
After the 1995 merger with Burlington Northern, the car received several exterior and interior updates and was renumbered from #89 to #32. Today, the William Barstow Strong remains in service with BNSF Railway, continuing its legacy by transporting company executives across the railroad’s vast system.
