Talyllyn carriages #1 and#2 were built by Brown, Marshalls & Co of Birmingham, England,in 1866 and 1867. Both were constructed with an open interior andcompartmentalized seating for each door. Carriage #4 was delivered in1867 by the Lancaster Wagon Co. and featured a more cost-effectivedesign than its predecessors. All three coaches remain in operation onthe Talyllyn Railway today, and while none are officially named,Carriage #4 is known to railway staff as “Lulu.”
